This card is a required, weekly pre-module planning and accountability document. It must be completed before beginning each module.

You will use it to:

(1) confirm pre-work

(2) set measurable STAR Aligning Moves

(3) write a future-self YOUfirmation

(4) list every assignment and self-track completion

(5) state—in complete sentences—what they already know and what they want to learn so instructors can target instruction.

How to complete it (step-by-step)

  1. Header & Timing (complete sentences)
  2. Week of: Write the Monday date for this week (e.g., “The week of October 13, 2025.”).
  3. Current Week in Program: State it as a sentence (e.g., “I am in Week 12 of 32.”).
  4. What Module I am Working On: Name the module in a sentence (e.g., “I am working on Gel Polish Fundamentals this week.”).
  5. Announcements & Required Pre-work
  6. Weekly Announcements: Check ✅ only after reading all announcements.
  7. Write: “I have read all weekly announcements.”
  8. Audio-Visual Book / Class Material: Check ✅ only after listening/reading.
  9. Write: “I have completed the assigned audio-visual book and this week’s class material.”
  10. Assignments List (you track these)
  11. List every assignment from the module and any in-class tasks. Keep the checkbox unchecked until it is fully completed and submitted.
  12. Write one sentence per assignment describing what you will submit (e.g., “I will submit a five-minute demo video that shows my full prep and gel application sequence.”).
  13. YOUfirmation (Future-Self compliment; complete sentence)
  14. Begin with “You…” and write 1–2 specific sentences as your future licensed self.
  15. Example: “You delivered consistent prep this week, and your clients returned because their polish lasted beyond fourteen days.”
  16. STAR Aligning Moves (four domains; each is one complete, measurable sentence)
  17. All four moves must be quantifiable and time-bound. If a move is not countable or schedulable, rewrite it.
  18. Personal/Spiritual:
  19. “I will journal for 10 minutes after lab on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to reflect on how I serve clients with care.”
  20. Physical:
  21. “I will walk 3 miles on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday this week.”
  22. Financial:
  23. “I will set aside $40 from tips and complete pricing for my basic manicure menu by Friday at 6:00 p.m.”
  24. Professional:
  25. “I will record two skill clips (cuticle work and polish application) and publish one reel with a call to action by Sunday at 8:00 p.m.”
  26. Knowledge Audit (complete sentences, done BEFORE studying)
  27. Write at least three complete sentences for each section.
  28. What I Know About the Current Topic (before studying):
  29. “I understand that gel polish requires complete base-coat and top-coat coverage to prevent premature wear.”
  30. “I know that any oil left on the natural nail plate can interfere with adhesion and cause lifting.”
  31. “I am aware that curing times vary by brand and lamp output, which affects results.”
  32. What I Want to Know About the Current Topic (before studying):
  33. “I want to learn the precise prep sequence that most reliably improves adhesion and wear.”
  34. “I want to understand how to prevent wrinkling and shrinkage near the sidewalls during curing.”
  35. “I want to know how to maintain my lamp correctly and how to determine when it needs to be replaced.”
  36. Name & Sign-off
  37. Print your full name and review the card for clarity, grammar, and completeness.
  38. Submission & Retention
  39. Submit the card before you begin the module. Keep a personal copy to reference during lab, coaching, and end-of-week check-ins.

Non-negotiable requirements

  1. This document is required every week, regardless of where you are in the curriculum.
  2. Use complete sentences throughout the entire card (headers, YOUfirmation, STAR Aligning Moves, knowledge audit, and assignment descriptions).
  3. All STAR Aligning Moves must be quantifiable and time-bound.
  4. YOUfirmation must begin with “You…” and speak from your future licensed self.
  5. You must self-track assignment completion with checkboxes—do not rely on reminders.
  6. You must read announcements and complete the audio-visual book before starting module learning activities.
