BGMU NAIL TIPS PROJECT

INSTRUCTIONS:

You will complete five nails (a full mannequin hand) for each of the five main nail shapes.

Each shape must be executed with proper prep, application, blending, and shaping skills.

You will also create a client bio, time estimation, and a professional slide deck presentation for your work.

Shapes Required

You must complete all five shapes:

1. Square
2. Round
3. Oval
4. Coffin/Ballerina
5. Stiletto

Length Rules

1. At least one shape must be short, one shape must be medium, and one shape must be long.
2. The remaining two shapes may be any length but not all the same length.
3. Example: Short Square, Medium Round, Long Coffin, Medium Oval, Long Stiletto.

Project Instructions

Prep Your Mannequin Hand

1. Watch the YouTube prep video ( https://youtu.be/uM-KOmh1bLQ?si=3QXeSdTF86o10Q9K )on how to prep your mannequin hand
2. Record a short video clip showing you shaping for each nail shape.

Apply, Blend, and Shape

For each of the five shapes:

1. Adhere tips
2. Blend the tip into the natural nail plate (no visible seam).
3. Shape the nail according to the assigned shape:
4. Take clear, well-lit photos of the finished set.

Create a Client Bio for Each Shape

For each set of five nails, create a fictional but realistic client profile:

1. Name:
2. Age:
3. Occupation:
4. Lifestyle & Activities:
5. Why they chose this shape & length:
6. Preferred enhancement type (gel, acrylic, polygel, etc):
7. Color/Style/Tier Art preferences:

Time Estimation

For each shape, estimate:

1. How long it would take you to complete a full set of that shape at your current skill level.
2. Be realistic — this is for your own tracking and growth.

Create Your Slide Deck Presentation

Using Google Slides, PowerPoint, or Canva, create 1 slide per shape plus a final reflection slide.

Each shape slide must include:

1. Shape name & chosen length
2. Photo of the completed nails
3. The client bio
4. Time estimation for a full set
5. Notes on challenges faced & how you would improve next time

The final slide must include:

1. Which shape was easiest and why
2. Which shape was hardest and why
3. One skill you improved on during this project

Submission Requirements

1. 5 clear photos (one for each shape)
2. 5 short video clips (15–30 seconds each, one per shape)
3. 5 written client bios
4. 5 time estimations
5. 1 complete slide deck
